Stage One: Induction & Onboarding

Building Confident & Guest-Focused Team Members

The Stage One Induction & Onboarding program is designed to set new team members up for success by providing the foundational skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience needed to deliver excellent service at Salmon & Bear.

We follow the Learn It → Use It → Master It approach, ensuring trainees progress from guided learning to independent execution with confidence.

✔ The ability to handle service efficiently and confidently.
✔ Essential skills in POS, booking management, and food running.
✔ Trainer support and real-time feedback to fast-track learning.

🚀 By completing Stage One, you’ll be ready to take on independent service with confidence!

Shift 1: Welcome & Basics

📌 Focus: Introduction to restaurant layout, service standards, and core FOH responsibilities.

✔ Learn the venue layout, table setup, and service sequence.

✔ Get familiar with POS basics, guest interaction, and clearing/resetting tables.

✔ Begin shadowing a senior team member during service.

Shift 2: Hands-On Training

📌 Focus: Strengthening FOH skills, POS proficiency, and guest engagement.
✔ Take guest orders, enter them into POS, and manage bookings.
✔ Learn food running, takeaway handling, and table management.
✔ Build confidence in menu knowledge, upselling, and answering guest questions.

Shift 3: Taking Ownership

📌 Focus: Managing a section, problem-solving, and service recovery.

✔ Independently manage a small section with trainer oversight.

✔ Master order accuracy, complaint handling, and closing procedures.

✔ Prepare for the Level 1 Pay Rise Assessment to advance to independent service.
